Cherry Hill FC Player Pathway Overview

Cherry Hill FC Premier (U13-19)
Note: Cherry Hill FC teams U16+ do not begin play until November at the conclusion of the high school season.

Cherry Hill FC’s elite-level travel teams progress through U19 with the goal of developing complete, well-rounded soccer players who, if they desire, are well-prepared to play at the college level. U16+ team development plans will provide players and teams with maximum exposure to college coaches at showcase events throughout the season. All Premier team coaches are highly qualified and hired by the Cherry Hill FC Board. Two training sessions per week are offered and at certain times of the year are supplemented by combined Premier training sessions (U13-15 & U16-19) on a third night.

Season: August – June (November – June for U16+)

Training: Two training sessions per week are provided and at certain times of the year supplemented by combined Premier training sessions on a third night, academy style (U13-15 and U16-19).

League Play: Teams compete in EDP 11 v 11 league play. Matches take place on Saturdays or Sundays. Away matches are typically within a 90-minute drive.

Tournament Play:

  • 5-8 tournaments/college showcases during the season.
  • Winter futsal or indoor training and league play will take place.
  • Teams enter NJYS National Championship Series “State Cup” tournament and US Club Soccer New Jersey Cup tournament. State champions advance to regional play.

Cherry Hill FC Junior Premier (U11, U12)
Cherry Hill FC’s elite-level travel teams begin at U11 with Junior Premier teams for serious soccer players. U11 and U12 team development plans will provide players and teams the opportunity to compete against high-level competition week in and week out while preparing players to progress successfully through the Club Player Development Pathway by developing individual ability and tactical awareness. All Junior Premier team coaches are highly qualified and hired by the Cherry Hill FC Board.

Season: August - June

Training/Coaching: Two training sessions per week are provided and at certain times of the year supplemented by combined U11 & U12 Junior Premier training sessions on a third night.

League Play: Teams compete in EDP 9 v 9 league play. Matches take place on Saturdays or Sundays. Away matches are typically within a 90-minute drive.

Tournament Play:

  • 5-7 tournaments during the season.
  • Winter futsal or indoor training and league play will take place.
  • Teams enter NJYS National Championship Series “State Cup” tournament and US Club Soccer New Jersey Cup tournament. State champions advance to regional play.

Cherry Hill FC Travel Soccer (U11-19)
Note: Cherry Hill FC teams U16+ do not begin play until November at the conclusion of the high school season.

Cherry Hill FC continues to offer a traditional town-based travel soccer program through U19.

Season: August – June (November – June for U16+)

Training/Coaching: All Cherry Hill FC travel teams are coached by volunteers who must possess an NJYS “F” license. Teams are trained twice a week during the season, with one session led by a professional trainer, who also mentors a team's parent volunteer coaches.

League Play: Teams compete in SJSL, SJGSL, or EDP league play. Matches take place on Saturdays or Sundays.

Tournament play:

  • Teams may compete in 2-5 tournament throughout the year.
  • Winter futsal or indoor training is optional and at the discretion of the team coach.
  • Most teams U12+ enter NJYS President’s Cup or Commissioner’s Cup.

Cherry Hill FC Juniors (U8, U9, U10)
Ball mastery is the emphasis in the Juniors program, which is the first tier of CHFC travel soccer. While developing a competitive spirit is important, emphasis is on player development and enjoying the game. Players are exposed to different positions on the field and all players should receive sufficient playing time on match days to facilitate this development. While tactical concepts are introduced, a heavy emphasis is placed on technical development and helping players to develop a “good soccer IQ.”

Season: August - June

Team Selection by ability level – Red: A team; Black: B team; White: C team

Training/Coaching: Teams are trained twice a week during the season by professional trainers, who also mentor parent volunteer coaches. Age group training sessions periodically take place to allow coaches and trainers to view the entire player pool at the same time.

League Play: Teams compete in 7 v 7 SJSL and SJGSL competition. Matches take place for girls primarily on Saturdays. Matches take place primarily on Sundays for boys.  CHFC Juniors “Red” A-level teams will also compete in 4-8 EDP Futures Festivals (either 4 v 4 or 7 v 7) over the course of the season.

Tournament Play:

  • Red team will compete in 3-4 tournaments during the season.
  • Black and White teams compete in 2-3 tournaments during the season
  • Winter training: Futsal league/training or indoor training.
  • U10 Juniors Red will enter US Club Soccer New Jersey Cup single-elimination tournament.

U7 Travel Prep Academy
This program is a supplemental training opportunity for recreation soccer players who seek additional coaching/training and/or plan to try out for a Cherry Hill FC U8 Juniors travel team the following year.

  • Program: 24 one-hour sessions with Cherry Hill FC professional trainers
  • Fall – 10 sessions (Friday evening, 6 p.m.); Winter – 6 Saturday sessions; Spring – 8 sessions (Friday evening, 6 p.m.)
  • Players receive a full kit and soccer ball.
